The Personal Why – Anchorage, Alaska

Anchorage is beautiful.

Snow-covered mountains. Crisp air. Wide open skies.

But beneath that beauty, there are children who go to sleep in cars. Teenagers walking through winters that most of us couldn’t imagine. Families trying to survive long, dark seasons — not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually.

And that breaks our hearts.

When Kayla and I were around 15 years old, God planted something in us. We didn’t have the language for it then — but we knew we were called to stand in the gap for kids growing up in hard places.

I grew up in a community that struggled. I saw what it looked like when families were fighting just to make it. I saw kids with potential who just needed someone steady in their life.

Then I saw hope step into my town.

Brother Vernin and Ms. Angie Talkington started the Hope Center in Douglas, Georgia. And I watched what happened. I watched kids find direction. I watched broken confidence turn into purpose. I watched a community begin to believe again.

And I realized something:

When someone shows up consistently — lives change.

Now when we look at Anchorage, we don’t just see statistics about youth homelessness or generational addiction.
We see faces.
We see stories.
We see kids who are one mentor away from a different future.

Winter in Alaska is long. It’s cold. It’s dark.

But what if a child never had to walk through it alone?

Help 121 isn’t about programs.
It’s about presence.
It’s about being the steady voice that says, “You matter. Your story isn’t over. God has more for you.”

We believe every child deserves a real chance — not just to survive Alaska, but to thrive in it.

And here’s the truth:

When you change one child’s direction, you change their future family.
You change how they parent.
You change what their children grow up believing.

That’s generational impact.

Psalm 121 says, “My help comes from the Lord.”

We believe God is sending help to Anchorage.

And we believe He’s asking us to be part of it.

This is not just a ministry plan for us.
It’s a calling.
It’s obedience.
It’s our yes.
